The state government of Gujarat is also planning to launch an air ambulance service to save the human life during the golden hours as part of the new health policy.
The state government of Gujarat will launch this scheme to provide the medical treatment to the newborn babies who are having defect in their bodies. The state government has appointed the ASHA workers as the team to work under Atal SNEH Yojana (ASY).
To identify the defects among the newborns, screening will be conducted at delivery point in both the hospitals in government and in the private hospitals also. In the case of the non hospital deliveries, female health workers, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Rashtriya Bal Swathya Karyakaram (RBSK) team members will do the work of screening the child.
The chief minister announced that the major and complicated birth defects will be screened at all government and private delivery centers in the state. The defects which have to be screened are like neural tube defect, cleft lip and palate, club foot, development dysplasia of hip, congenital cataract, deafness, heart disease, retinopathy of prematurity and down syndrome.
After covering major disease each year, annual School Health Programme carried out for the last two decades. Now the Health and Education department of Gujarat will focus on the birth defects this year by launching Atal SNEH Yojana (ASY). The state government of Gujarat is launching this scheme to checking of newborns for birth defects.
